The "City along the Waterside" is a permanent exhibition of cultural history that encompasses everything from the global port system to the local quayside. Visitors encounter stories from the seaport in the four sections of the exhibition.

 

RIVERS OF THE SEAPORT

Seaports form a network that connects the world. Flows of people, goods and ideas move across the oceans. The history of Gothenburg and its port have been formed in this way through contact with the outside world.

STORIES ALONG THE WATERSIDE 

The port has been a central meeting place for generations of Gothenburg's citizens. The city has been shaped by movements of people – sailors, shipyard workers, emigrants and merchants. Some come to stay, others travel on.
