The park and entrance

A new entrance hall with room enough for everyone. When the museum reopens, the new, bigger entrance hall will face the passers-by on Karl Johansgatan. You are welcome to browse in the shop, have a coffee in the café, and discover the Aquarium and all the exhibitions in the building.

What has been done?

We have made study visits to Stockholm and the UK to gain inspiration and new ideas for a good and functional entrance hall, both for you as visitors and for us who work at the museum.

What happens next?

The new entrance hall will be located where the Aquarium is today. As the area is vacated, the walls, floor and ceiling will be given new surface finishes.

Refugee across the Sea

Haenyeo - Women of the Sea

For more than 1000 years there have been fisherwomen diving on the island of Jeju, South Korea. The exhibition is on display from the 3rd of March 2018.

Aquarium

Dive down below the surface of the water and discover seahorses, coral reefs and crabs. You can learn more about our marine environment, understand how the lion fish is toxic and why clown fish change their sex.
