Love Birds is the story of George Hunt and Molly Warner, whose 1972 discovery of homosexuality in seagulls had an impact on scientific research and the LGBTQ+ movement.

When George Hunt and Molly Warner stumbled upon ’lesbian seagulls’ on Santa Barbara Island in 1972, they didn’t expect the discovery to make national headlines. But the media frenzy, political outrage, and scientific uproar were just the beginning of a story that would transform their lives—and put their relationship to the test.
